April 1, 2017 – University of the Philippines School of Library and Information Studies (UPSLIS), Quezon City, Manila. UPSLIS Students under the supervision of Professor Benedict “Bono” Olgado and Professor Mona Jimenez, in collaboration with the IBON Foundation, organized a workshop at the university to process IBON’s AsiaVisions analog video collection. This also functioned as a pre-conference workshop for the 2017 SouthEast Asia-Pacific AudioVisual Archives Association (SEAPAVAA) annual conference.
AsiaVisions was an independent media collective comprised of filmmakers, photographers, and journalists who documented the realities, atrocities, protests, and political movements during Martial Law in the Philippines under Ferdinand Marcos from 1972 – 1981. Upon its dissolution in 1998, AsiaVisions transferred its collection to IBON Foundation, a development organization that seeks to promote understanding of social, economic, and political issues confronting Philippine society and the world through research and education.
