Saturday, April 18, 20206: Community Digitization Day

Workshop Partner: Arkadija Archive

Host Site: Milienko Dereta Space

The Community Archiving Workshop (CAW) and Balkan Community Memory project is co-organized a two-day workshop in partnership with the Arkadija Archive. This workshop occurred in conjunction with the first meeting of the Balkan Network of Queer Archives.

Day one began with educational presentations addressing the care, organization, and maintenance of archival digital files, specifically those created from analog audiovisual collections. Participants then broke out into groups and worked together to organize and index a group of digital files from Arkadija’s collection, with the goal of establishing a foundation for digital preservation for Arkadija.

During day two, Arkadija opened up its new community digitization program for a digitization training day. Participants learned the basics of audiovisual digitization while digitizing small samples from their collections.

Workshop team: Lorena Ramirez-Lopez, Shay Hix, Moriah Ulinskas, CK Ming, Siobhan Hagan, B Milenkovic.
